Political parties' answers to 100 key questions reveal where the Czech Republic is heading. Based on 100 questions from the Voting Calculator, we bring you a unique overview of where the parties of the planned coalition agree, where they diverge, and on which topics they will need to seek compromises or support across the Parliament.
Some positions unite everyone. For example, support for housing construction goes across the political spectrum. Similarly, nuclear energy has exceptionally strong support in Czechia – and there is 100% agreement among parliamentary parties on this issue, just as with the construction of additional dams. And finally, in the case of nuclear energy, there is 100% agreement that Czech legislators will continue to support it.
Where the Planned Government Disagrees
It still holds that ANO plans to govern together with SPD and Motoristé. Let's go through the questions where these parties disagree. Among themselves, but often also with no one else.
Alone Against All
An exemplary case is when ANO is the only party in the entire Parliament that wants to restore EET (electronic sales records).
SPD, on the other hand, is isolated in wanting to move to neutrality regarding the war in Ukraine. And they want to leave the EU.
Motoristé are the only ones who want tuition fees to be charged at least at some public universities. Neither ANO nor SPD want tuition fees, and the entire opposition agrees with them on this.
SPD and Motoristé Against Others
SPD and Motoristé would abolish the recently introduced postal voting. In energy, they would not want to support renewable sources and do not want support for reducing the energy intensity of buildings.
Similarly, they do not want the police to take more decisive action against polluting cars with non-functional filters.
Government vs. Opposition
If a government of ANO, SPD, and Motoristé is indeed formed, then the governing parties would have a majority over the opposition on issues such as:
- Not adopting the euro
- Fossil fuels as the main source of energy in the Czech Republic
- Propagation of communism should not be a criminal offense
- Withdrawal from the migration pact
Complex Coalitions
On many questions, there is no agreement between the parties of the forming government, nor between the parties that today appear to end up in opposition.
For example, euthanasia in the Czech Republic is supported by a majority composed of ANO, STAN, and Piráti.
A general referendum would have a majority composed of ANO, Piráti, and SPD.

How did we obtain the data for the Voting Calculator?
Before the elections, we contacted all competing parties. 5 out of 6 parties that eventually made it into Parliament answered the questions sent, so their answers are directly here. Only ANO refused to answer the questions sent, so we found answers according to their pre-election program, from voting in Parliament, and from public statements by their leading representatives.
